Africa is the world’s second largest and second most populous continent (behind Asia in both categories). Igt covers 6% of Earth’s total surface area and 20% of the Earth’s land area. With 1.2 billion it accounts for accounts for nearly 16% of the world’s human population. The continent includes Madagascar and the archipelagos. It comprises of 54 sovereign states and nine territories. Africa, particularly Eastern Africa is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and Hominidae Clade (Great Apes), as evidenced by the discovery of the earliest hominids and their ancestors and later ones dated to ,around 7 million years ago. In the late 19th century European countries colonised almost all of Africa, and most present states in Africa originated from a process of decolonisation in the 20th century. Africa contains the world’s longest River – Nile, running from Burundi to Egypt, and the Congo River. Taqnzania’a Mt. Kilimanjaro is the world’s tallest free standing mountain at 5890 mtrs, Dijibouti’s Lake Assal is the second lowest point on Earth, the saltiest lake outside Antartica and one of the hottest places on earth. While the first activity most people associate with Africa is safaris, but there are endless possibilities for adventure. Africa is a diverse continent with each country or even each part of a country having its own unique culture. Saahel - (Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Sudan) – The desert and savanna nations that span the Sahel and southern half of the Sahara Desert.

Central Africa - ( Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, South Sudan) – This is the heart of Africa and is home to some significant UNESCO World heritage sites and many natural attractions, but sadly not accessible due to constant conflicts in the area.
East Africa - (Burundi, Comoros, Dijibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda) – These are the nations that border the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. The region is a paradise for travellers - attracts wild life enthusiasts for Big 5 Game viewing safaris in Kenya and Tanzania, for the explorers - Madagascar is becoming a sought after attraction, and for the nature lovers and beach hoppers, Mauritius serves as an ideal haven.
