Jewel of the East : Darjeeling


Darjeeling, a popular hill station since the colonial era situated at an elevation of 2050 mtrs features a blend of scenic beauty, breathtaking views of the snow capped Kanchenjunga mountains, dense forests, diverse cultures and many attractions including the famous Toy Train, monasteries, Tea plantations, spectacular sunrise and many more. Over the years it has become a favourite destination for international tourists visiting Bengal.

Day 1

Kolkata – Bagdogra – Darjeeling

This morning after breakfat you will be transferred to the airport to connect flight to Bagdogra. On arrival you will be met at the airport and transfer to Darjeeling by road. On arrival in Darjeeling check into your hotel and relax for a while. Then in the evening stroll around the Mall road and indulge in some local shopping. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 2


This early morning wake up early to go to Tiger Hill to have a lifetime experience of the beautiful sunrise. The Hill is situated at an elevation of 7407 mtrs above sea level and offers an awe inspiring view of the Himalayan range during sunrise. See the world 2 highest Peaks, Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga. The sunrays first embrace these two peaks and gradually spread to the other peaks. On your way back visit the Ghoom Monastery – built in 1875, which is dedicated to Maitreya Bhddha, who is believed to be the Buddha to come. The monastery preserves some rare handwritten Buddhist manuscripts, then visit the War Memorial and the Batasia Loop – the place thrugh the Toy train passes in a loop like pattern. Have a 360 degrees view of Darjeeling’s beautiful landscape from this place. At the centre of this loop lies the War Memorial built in honour of Gorkha martyrs who lost their lives during various wars.

Return to your hoteland have your breakfast and then again depart for sight seeing. Start by visiting the Peace Pagoda, built in order to bring peace and prosperity in the world. It displays four different forms of Buddha and is open to people from all races and creed. Then take the cable car ride where you will experience the breath taking views of the Himalayas. Then walk through the beautiful Tea Gardens and pick up the best tea in the world. Also visit other attractions like the Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Natural History Museum and the Tenzing and Gumpo Rock.

Return to the hotel and after some rest walk around the local market to do some local shopping. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 3

Full day Mirik

Today early morning after breakfast get ready for an excursion to Mirik, a picturesque tourist spot nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling. At an altitude of 1450 mtrs. Mirik is cantered around a 1.25 km long lake known as Samendu, which is surrounded by dense forest hills and tea gardens. Mirik is popular for its orange orchards, tea plantations and cardamom plantations. Enjoy the fascinating boat ride on the lake, do some horse riding and canoeing. Mirik is also a great location for trekkers as it offers a number of trekking trails to view the beautiful forests.

On you way back visit the Pashupati Market, a shopper’s hub for imported clothes and cosmetics from Thailand or stroll around the Mall or the local market area. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4

Darjeeling – Kalimpong (49 kms 1.50 hours)

Early morning after breakfast today you will proceed by road to Kalimpong, a small hill station known for its tranquility and serene beauty. It s a great city for those who wish to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city life enjoy a calm getaway. Situated at an altitude of 1247 mtrs, Kalimpong’s amazing horticulture and flower markets make it a paradise for nature lovers. On arrival check into your hotel. Later visit the major attractions like Deolo Hill – which is the highest point of Kalimpong surrounded by beautiful flower gardens which will mesmerize you, then Hanuman Mandir, Durpin Monastery, Mangaldham and Pine View Nurseries where you will find variety of Cactus. Return to your hotel and later visit the Flower markets interacting with the pleasant locals. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5

Kalimpong – Bagdogra – Kolkata/Delhi

This morning after your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport at Bagdogra to connect flight to Kolkata or Delhi, depending on your itinerary. On arrival at Kolkata/Delhi you will be met by our representative and be transferred to the airport to connect flight for your onward destination or home with fond memories.
