Description

This tour has been designed to offer you an opportunity to explore the rich and diverse wildlife with their huge expanse of grassland, dense forests, flaura and fauna of Mandhya Pradesh and also to get an insight into the lifestyle of Bastar tribal community at Kawardha, Kanker and Jagdalpur in the state of Chattisgarh – which is primarily a tribal dotted region with multihued tribal culture reflecting vibrant colours of tribal life. Tribal word basically referes to inhabitants who are known as indigenous in other countries or aboriginals. Chattisgarh is home to the oldest tribal communities of India who have been living for more than 10000 years in Bastar region of the state. Every tribal community has its rich past and culture of traditional dance, music, food and dress, but have one thing in common that is way of living – simple and nature loving.

Day 1

Arrive Delhi

On arrival you will be met by our representative who will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. He will assist you in the check in process and explain the details of the itinerary. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

In Delhi

Have your breakfast and then get ready to proceed for full day sight seeing tour of this historic city. Visit Old Delhi known as “Purani Dilli” which houses the exquisitely designed ancient mosques, beautiful gardens and magnificent forts and New Delhi or “Nayi Dilli” comprises of the impressive avenues and impressive building built during the British era. Visit Asia’s largest mosque Masjid-i-Jahan- Numa or Jama Masjid, Red Fort a UNESCO Heritage site built by the Mughal emperors and had been their residence for over 200 years. Then visit Raj Ghat, a memoir dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi where his mortal remains are buried. Then on to Laxmi Narai Temple, adorned with many shrines and fountains and garden, and later visit the Qutab Minar, the tallest minaret in India built by Qutub Uddin Aibak. In the evening pass through the Parliament House, a semi circular building which is used by parliamentarians for conducting government session and meetings by both houses “the Rajya Sabha” (Upper House) and “Lok Sabha” (lower house), and pass through the President’s Estate before concluding your tour for the day. Day 3

Delhi – Agra

Today morning after breakfast you will drive to Agra. On arrival at Agra check into your hotel. After some time you will visit the Agra Fort - A symbol of power, strength and glory The Agra Fort is the highlight of the city of Agra, the main residence of the Mughal King till 1638, after which the capital was shifted to Delhi. The fort comprises of splendid palaces in both red sandstone and marble built by two generations of prolific builders Akbar and later Jehangir and ShahJahan. The fort comprises of exquisite structures like the Sheesh Mahal (Glass Palace), Diwane Aam ( A common hall which once housed the Peacock Throne), Diwane Khas – Hall for special audience, Khas Mahal- an immaculate marble palace, Mina Masjid – Heavenly mosque, Mussamman Burj – An octagonal tower facing the Taj Mahal and many more. Return to the Hotel and overnight.

Day 4

Agra – Umaria (By rail)

Today early morning you will visit the Taj Mahal Taj Mahal (meaning Crown of the Palace) (closed on Fridays), one of the 7 wonders of the world, built in 1630 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan on the banks of the River Yamuna in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is an Ivory white marble mausoleum which took 20 years to construct with 22000 workers and 1000 elephants. The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17 hectare complex, which includes a mosque and a guest house and is set in formal gardens bounded on 3 sides by crenellated walls. Return to your hotel and have breakfast. Thereafter check out of the hotel to board train to Umaria – which is your next destination in Central India to commence the tiger and the tribal tour. Umaria is enriched with vast resources of forests and minerals. Overnight on board the train.

Day 5

Umaria - Bandhavgarh National Park (33 Kms 1 hour)

You will arrive Umaria early morning and then you will be transferred by road to Bandhavgarh National Park - which is a paradise for wild life enthusiasts., situated in the foothills of the Vindhya mountains. With a huge biodiversity The Park has one of the highest population of tigers and a large breeding population of leopards and various species of deer. The first white Tiger in this area was captured by Maharaja Martand Singh in 1951 – this tiger is now stuffed and on display in the palace of Maharajas of Rewa. The mix of tropical forest, Sal Trees and grassland in Bandhavgarh park is home to scores of bird species including eagles. To the south of Park lies the remains of the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort. On arrival check into the Jungle resort. After relaxing for a while, you will visit the Baghel Museum which preserves the personal belongings of the Maharaj of Rewa. Also visit the Tola village that has many mud houses and abounds with natural landscapes. Then after lunch Go for an exciting excursion in a jeep safari to encounter the forest inhabitants in their closest view and admire the beauty of the varied flora and fauna of the park. Return to the resort. Overnight at the resort.

Day 6

Bandhavgarh – Kanha

After breakfast today who will leave Bandhavgarh to proceed to Kanha National park which is one of the finest National parks in India and the largest in Madhya Pradesh spread over an area of 940 sq. km in the Maikhal Hills. The park is filled with large varieties of flora and fauna, and is best known for the Barasingha or the Swamp Deer. The land is made further beautiful with natural streams amidst the dense jungle which cleanses the surroundings and makes wildlife unrivalled. The vivacious land has been a source of inspiration for Rudyard Kipling, a famous writer for his brilliant creation “The Jungle Book”. You will find several species of plants, birds, reptiles and insects. The reserve has fascinated travelers from across the world. On arrival check into your Jungle resort. Later in the day enjoy bird watching accompanied by a naturalist. In the evening return to the resort. Have your dinner and Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7

Kanha National Park

Today early in the morning you will explore the park in a thrilling elephant safari to enjoy game viewing. Later, after lunch take a Jeep safari to observe wildlife amidst the thick lush green forest. With Jeep Safari, you will be able to explore those places which are difficult to travel by any other mode of transport and see the animals at the closest view. Return to the hotel and have your breakfast. You can enjoy jeep safaris twice a day, once early morning and other in the late afternoon. After the safari return to the hotel. Overnight at the resort.

Day 8

Kanha – Kawardha ( 95 kms 2.5 hours)

Today after breakfast you will check and drive to Kawardha in Chattisgarh State of India, which will the beginning of your tribal tour. On arrival you will check into your hotel Kawardha Palace, built in the Indo European architecture, and rest for a while. Thereafter you will visit the tribal villages nearby and observe their lifestyle and daily activities. Visit the friendly Baiga tribe and try to interact with them, have some fun and learn about their culture. You will also visit some temples, the most famous being Boremdeo Temple. Enjoy your evening in the palace with traditional dance and music. Return to the Hotel and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9

Kawardha – Kanker (251 kms. 7 hours)

Have an early breakfast and get ready to drive to Kanker, the next tribal region in Chattisgarh State. On arrival check into a heritage hotel. Venture out in the treasured tribal regions of Bastar. Overnight at the Hotel

Day 10

Kanker – Jagdalpur (120 kms 3 hours)

After breakfast today you will check out of your hotel and proceed to Jagdalpur that lies at the heart of the Bastar tribal area. On arrival check into your hotel. Post lunch you will embark on a sight seeing tour visiting the Anthropological Museum to learn more about the prevalent tribes, then proceed to Chitrakoot waterfalls known as “Niagara of India” and some more sites. Return to your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 11

Jagdalpur

After breakfast you will leave for a full day visit to the various tribal villages of Jagdalpur. Interact with numerous local tribes and experience their unique and fascinating culture. You can also discover Jagdalpur’s unique handicrafts before returning to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

Day 12

Jagdalpur

Post breakfast today you will set out to explore the wild life belt of Jagdalpur and have a thrilling experience of the fascinating wildlife at the Kanger Valley National park which is one of the most beautiful and densest in the state. Spread over an area of 200kms and Known for its biodiversity with picturesque landscape, magnificent waterfalls, limestone caves it is home to the Bastar hill Myna” – the state bird of Chattisgarh. The park also has a sizable amount of tribal population and is an ideal destination for wildlife lovers, researchers and anthropologists. Return to your hotel and overnight at the hotel.

Day 13

Jagdalpur – Raipur (220 kms 5 hours)

Today after breakfast you will check out of your hotel and drive to Raipur and en-route visit Rajim for sight seeing known as “Prayag of Chattisgaarh” situated on the holy confluence of 3 rivers Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondur called Triveni Sangam. Rajim is popular for its beautiful ancient temples. Rajiv Lochan Vishnu Temple is the most famous temple which is supported by twelve towered columns embroidered with stone carvings which bear the faces of the various Gods of Hindu Mythology. Other temples dedicated to the incarnations of Lord Vishnu like the Vamana and Narasimha are in close proximity of the Vishnu Temple. Theere are many other temples which stand in glory in the city even in their ruinous state. On arrival at Raipur check into your hotel. You can later step out of your hotel and explore the surroundings. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14

Raipur – Delhi

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to connect flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi our representative will meet you and escort you to some more sight seeing places in Delhi, if you so desire. You can also visit the popular markets in Delhi and spend time in doing some last minute shopping. Late in the evening you will be transferred to the airport to connect flight to your onward destination or back home with unforgettable memories.
